The problem of this research can be stated: How is the cohesiveness of recount texts in Look Ahead English textbook for tenth grade published by Erlangga? In this study, the writer choose cohesion of recount text because it is one of the genres that must be mastered by Tenth Year Students of Senior High School as stated in curriculum. Cohesion of a text will lead to a better comprehension. Cohesion allows readers to read smoothly because it links between the clause and sentence of the text. We can see how the structuring of the sentences has implications for units such as paragraph and for the progression of the whole texts.
To evolve from the four aspects of political, social, economic and cultural, one book with another book also has its advantages and disadvantages, so that the backward and end process.The background of the study in this research is based on the phenomena that textbook has a great role in teaching learning. While the analysis for the development of each book has its advantages and disadvantages, there is a book which describes the initial process completely and there is not. The book outlines eight royal grants, Yudhisthira, Earth Literacy and Platinum each of the seven kingdoms. From the analysis, it is shown that each textbook has some differences in the completeness of the material on Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms. Textbooks basically have a very important role for teachers and students in the learning process.
In addition, the text book is also used by students as a supporting book in learning activities both in school and outside of school. Textbook is the handbook used by teachers in teaching.
